POSITION TITLE: Assistant Football Coach

DEPARTMENT: Athletics (Student Affairs)

POSITION STATUS: Full Time (12 month)

POSITION REPORTS TO: Head Football Coach

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Head Football Coach, assists in the operation of the program, including service to players, recruitment, and retention of student-athletes during the Football Season. Assistant Coach will assist the program within the guidelines established by the Director of Athletics/Head Football Coach and in accordance with the goals of the University of Saint Francis.

Major Responsibilities/Activities

• Assists with the teaching and training of the student athlete on the rules and fundamentals of the sport during practices and games.
• Attends practices and games to assist the head coach in coaching/teaching the student athletes and preparation of game day operations.
• Assists in recruitment, as needed, in accordance with NAIA, conference, and university guidelines, to maintain a roster as designated by the Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach (subject to change from year-to-year).
• Assists other head coaches and assistant coaches with event set-up and management, fundraising, and other functions as needed.

• Projects a positive image of the university and the Athletic Department to the campus community, current and prospective student-athletes, and the external community through the actions and attitudes of coach and others in the program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High School Diploma with some work toward a college degree required.

Experience

• Experience either as a football player or assistant coach at the high school or college level required.

Knowledge and Skills

• Possess knowledge of university programs, services, policies, procedures, and activities.
• Demonstrates high level of leadership and interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written necessary to interact effectively with prospective students, parents, faculty, and staff.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the game of football and all rules relating to the game and NAIA recruiting guidelines.
• Demonstrates ability to coach on the collegiate level.
• Must be, and remain, insurable for driving by the university’s automobile insurance company without additional premiums.
